Evening Skincare Routine

My evening skincare routine has changed since the colder months began. I've also discovered a few new skincare products that have really helped my skin so I thought I would take you through my evening skin care routine.

I don't like to use too many products on my face as I can't understand how this can ever be a good thing, so I tend to try and keep it as simple as possible. To remove my eye makeup I use either my Nivea eye make up remover or The Body Shop Camomile eye make up remover ( see here ). I tend to use the Nivea eye make up remover most of the time and then save the camomile remover for when I'm wearing much heavier eye makeup, such as after a night out. I then remove the rest of my make up using a micellar water. I have read so many different reviews on micellar water but I honestly love it! I'm currently using one from B. but I know that L'Oreal do another drugstore-budget micellar water. To cleanse I will either use the Simple Cleansing Lotion and then the Simple Toner, or the Simple cleanser/toner gel. Simple products are wonderful to use, and I have never had a breakout or a reaction to them. Any blemishes I have, I will use either my Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Blemish Stick ( see full review here ) or if I'm having a breakout I will use my Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Spot Treatment Gel. I will use the gel all over my face before my moisturiser. I then use the Lacura caffeine eye roll-on on the circles under my eyes and on my eye lids. I currently tried out the REN Active 7 eye gel and I absolutely loved it but I don't love it enough to spend £20 unfortunately! Finally, I use the No 7 Oily skin moisturiser ( see here ). This is another great drugstore product because it feels very much like a high end product, as it is very luxurious to use.

I think skin care is the most important aspect of beauty, a good base is key! However I don't believe that you have to use hoards of products to achieve good skin, just the right products that suit your skin. It has taken me a couple of years to find a routine that works well for me and I don't have to spend a fortune on the products which is another bonus of course!

Has anyone else used these products before?

My Everyday Make Up Bag

During the day I don't like using lots of make up on my skin, I thinks its unnecessary and isn't really good for your skin. I have quite a good skincare routine which I think is important if you don't want to wear a lot of heavy make up. So I thought I would show you guys what's in my everyday make up that I carry around with me everyday (obvs).

Rimmel BB Cream
I use this as a base everyday. It has many skin-perfecting properties so is actually good for your skin, and doesn't cover your face in lots of heavy makeup. I usually use a little bit of concealer under my eyes and on any spots/blemishes, and then just use a powder over any oily areas. I find this gives me enough coverage in the day, and doesn't make my skin overly oily during the warmer months.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara
I use this mascara on a daily basis because of its lengthening properties. I don't have the longest lashes in the world so I like to use this just to add a bit of length without the false look. I sometimes wear a pale shadow on my eyes or do a bit of subtle blending with a couple of shades but nothing very dramatic.

Revlon Lip Butters in Candy Apple and Tutti Frutti
I absolutely love these lip butters. They're so moisturising and well pigmented so they last a while. Candy Apple is a very bright, classic red, which could be worn as an evening look too but because it is so moisturising, I like wearing this during the day. Tutti Frutti is another bright shade but not quite as bold. Its a peachy, coral colour which can be worn with so many looks. I really enjoyed using this in the summer months.

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain Balm in Honey Douce
Another Revlon lip product that I really like. This is the darkest shade in my everyday make up bag but I think it looks lovely, especially in the colder months as it is quite an autumnal colour. Its almost a plum shade but without looking too vampy. This also looks really nice with a bit of Vaseline or Carmex underneath or over the top to give it a more glossy look. Because of the pencil style of the product, this is really easy to apply on the go aswell.

Nivea Soft Rose Lip Balm, Elemis Quenching Lip Balm, and Balance Me Shine On Tinted Lip Salve in Sheer Raspberry
These are my 3 basic balms that I use the most and that work well at keeping my lips moisturised. I suffer from very dry lips so using good products is important. I actually got the Elemis and Balance Me lip balms as freebies with some magazines, and the Nivea lip balm I bought in Poundland (see haul here) so these weren't pricey products at all (quite the opposite!). The Elemis is a clear balm which has the same tingling sensation as Carmex when you apply it onto the lips. Balance Me has a slight raspberry tint but is a lovely glossy balm. The Nivea balm is a matte, pale pink shade which is lovely for an every day look. This is probably my favourite lip balm as I find it really keeps my lips moisturised.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss and Pink Punch
I am almost 100% that every beauty blogger and blog reader has heard of these. Whilst I was intrigued into trying them out I wasn't overly desperate to get my hands on them, it just turned out I managed to pick up a couple in my local Boots. Peach Kiss is my favourite out of the two shades. It is a very subtle balm, with a peachy shimmer. Pink Punch is a very Barbie pink shade which I don't really suit unfortunately. I think they are moisturising but there isn't any difference to other lip balms I have tried. Bit of an overrated product here.

So there we go, I love looking in other peoples make up bags, especially the products they use every day. Mine isn't a very extensive collection, but like I said, I don't like wearing a lot of make up during the day. Does anyone else use any of these products? I'd love to know what you think of them!

Skin Care-Morning Routine

I believe good skincare is the number 1 priority when it comes to beauty. Looking after your skin is very important and by eating the right things, drinking plenty of water and sticking to a good skincare routine then you can't go wrong. Yes you can cover blemishes with concealer and you can use half a jar of foundation on your face every day to create that flawless glow that everybody longs for, but I believe that if you stick to a good skin care routine and use good products then there is no need to overload your skin and fill your pores with chemicals and product.

In the morning, I wash my face with a warm flannel and then use the Clean and Clear Morning Energising Daily Facial Scrub on my face. The citrus smell of this scrub is amazing, it wakes your skin up and smell so fresh. The scrub contains Vitamin C and removes dirt, oil and impurities from the skin. The fresh scent awakens the senses leaving your skin feeling invigorated for the day ahead. This scrub is also oil free which is great for someone with oily/combination skin like myself. If my skin is blemished or I'm having a bad breakout then I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser. I wash my face first with a warm face cloth, then I use about one pump's worth of foam on my face, gently scrubbing it into my face. It does smell quite strongly of tea tree oil but I like the scent and, again, it smells fresh and clean. I find I cannot use this on a daily basis as it contains oil so doesn't overly suit my skin but, as I have said, if my skin is having a breakout of spots or blemishes then I'll use this for a couple of days and it does the trick!

After using the scrub or cleanser I wash it off with a warm face cloth and then apply either Garnier Moisture Match Fresh Mattifying Cream or Organic Surge Super Intensive Daily Moisturiser. The Garnier Moisture Match cream is a new discovery of mine after reading about the new range on In The Frow. My oily skin has really suffered this summer, I find it makes my skin look greasy and dirty and if I apply any make up (especially foundation without primer) it just slides right off. However if I apply a pea-size amount of this to my face it keeps the oily shine at bay. It also has a lovely fresh scent which isn't too overpowering. The Organic Surge moisturiser isn't one I would normally go for as I don't think my skin needs lots of moisture, especially at this time of year, but I received this in a GlossyBox and have been using it since. I really like the silky feel of this product but I find it doesn't absorb into the skin very quickly so isn't ideal if you're in a rush. I don't use this cream as much purely because its an intense moisturiser and I don't think my skin really needs that. Maybe I'll use it more in the Winter months when my skin is a bit dryer.
Has anyone else tried any of these products? Or can recommend any other products good for oily skin?
