Hair Care-Heat Protection

Due to years of colouring and heat damage, my hair has become very dry and damaged. Throughout my school years I was dying my hair every few weeks, then when I turned 16 I started getting bleach highlights and straightening my hair. I was a bit naïve about using  heat protection products and so now my hair is suffering. I have been using a range of products to help restore and nourish my damaged hair.

John Frieda Full Repair Perfect Ends Deep Infusion
I picked this up at the beginning of the summer months. I don't know what it is about summer but I always want my hair to look extra lovely, extra smooth and in tip top condition. I have noticed I've got a few split ends so I thought I would try and give them an extra helping hand. I used this product religiously on my hair for about a month and can honestly say I saw no improvement. You're supposed to use a pump size amount on wet hair, concentrating mainly on the ends and damaged areas, before using heated appliances. I was pretty disappointed, but I think I had hoped a bit too much that my horrible split ends would disappear. I won't be going back to this product.
Phil Smith Total Treat Argon Oil Hair Transforming Cream
I've been very nervous about using oil based products on my hair. I know everybody raves about oils and how marvellous they are, but I suffer from greasy hair so adding more oils into my already oily hair is something I was slightly hesitant about. However after reading an article about someone who described their own hair as I would mine and said oils worked a treat, I decided I would pluck up the courage and give it a go! I received this little sample in a magazine so whilst waiting for payday to go out and treat myself to an oil, I thought I would try this. This is a oil based cream rather than an actual oil. But I have to say so far so good! You only need a pea-size amount for your hair whilst its wet. It leaves the hair much softer but without the greasy effect that some products give my hair. I always find it feel a bit thicker after using this for a while. I'm pretty impressed so far, this encourages even more so about jumping on that bandwagon!

V05 Smoothly Does It Heat Protect Serum
I don't use heated appliances that much on my hair, I'll use the hair dryer if I'm going out afterwards and sometimes use my straighteners. Obviously protecting your hair from the intense heat is very important and I like the V05 range so that's why I opted for this one. If I'm going to use the hair dryer, I'll run a very small amount of the serum through the mid-lengths and ends of my hair. Aswell as protecting hair from the heat, this product claims to fight frizz and leave a shine, and it does do what it says on the tin! I suffer from frizzy hair, especially in these warmer months, so am always happy for a product that helps with that. So this one is a double winner! I also use this before using the straighteners on my hair for that extra bit of protection.

A combination of these products and using good conditioners is definitely making a difference to my hair. Can anyone recommend other products that could help with my damaged/dry hair?
